Global search

For a global search across the whole database, enter a search term (or terms) and then click the search button. You can enter terms such as an author's name, part of a book title, etc. To do this type of search at any stage, use the Global option. Note: the searches use the exact terms you enter.

Results page: after you have completed any search, the results are displayed on a Results page. You can click through to full details relating to the author and book.

Diacritical marks: the searches are sensitive to exact characters and if your search includes diacritical marks (such as: ä é ç õ ê, etc.) you will need to include them in your search terms.

Guided searches

To look-up via keywords, author's last name, item title and years

  • Unlike Global or Advanced Search which searches on all fields in the entire database, the Guided search searches on your selected category (field) only. Global Search will often produce more (and sometimes unexpected) results. The Advanced search limits your search to a single category.
  • Once you have clicked on the specific name, title, term etc., your Results will be displayed on your screen. Click on the title in Results for full details.

Advanced search

This search functions in a similar way to the Global Search (see above) but only searches in a specific catagory (also know as a field you select from the lists.

Useful to limit your results and receive more specific results.
